Robin clasped the straps of her hiking backpack together over her chest, locking her equipment in place. With her hard hat and gloves already on, she was totally read to explore the area. "Are you ready?" She asked her partner. She had just met Mimi the other day at the hot springs, and now they were paired together again as Rangers. It was serendipitous.

"We don't have any strict requirements for this spelunking trip," she explained, "but we shouldn't leave until we see something cool." Reporting back could be really boring, but it was always redeemed when there was something awesome to share with the other Rangers.

After finishing her final checks for her gear, Mimi was ready to get going. She snatches two Ziplock bags which contained pb&j sandwiches from her bag before zipping it shut. "Yep, all ready to go!" she responds with a excited chirp, taking swift strides Mimi rushes towards Robin's side.

"Totally agree with you" Mimi extends her hand towards robin, offering her the pb&j inside the ziplock bag. "So how many times have you been down to Aero Zero? this is my 3rd trip, and I can't say I've seen anything very exciting." Mimi assumed that many of the mysteries lay deep within the caverns, so far she's only explored the surface levels but she's heard that the caves are expansive.

Robin taps her chin as she thinks through the question. "I think this is... five." She displays five fingers for her partner. "I think they've been throwing everyone here whose available." She laughed. "It's a real hot spot for activity. We got natural disasters, pokemon stampedes, and... well, Rocket interference." Her voice turns a little more grim at the final note. After nearly being abducted, it's hard to be casual about Rocket.

"At least this is just exploration. We don't have to defend any research stations." She was a little tired of those stuffy missions. The researchers never liked to stop to share what they were doing. She looked around to observe the area they were entering, filled with glowing tera. "Look, there's goop up there."

"Sounds like you've been through a lot" Mimi decides not to pry further when Robin mentioned Team Rocket, not wanting to bring back painful memories. She felt rather lucky, for the most part her excursions have been mellow. The mention of research stations caused Mimi to chuckle "yeah, heard that some of the researchers are jerks." she pauses for a moment listening to the sounds of a distant waterfall rumbling nearby. "I'm glad we get to do this together" She adds with a gentle smile.
Her last few excursions were done with strangers. Which is why Mimi was happy to do one with Robin someone she knew.

It was amazing to see the different colored tera crystals which surrounded them, their dim lights illuminated their surroundings in a mystical manner. However, when Robin pointed out goop a strange thought crossed Mimi's mind.

The researchers were pretty stiff. Mimi seemed to know that already, so Robin didn't comment on it. She would be a cool researcher if she ever pursued that path, at least.

"Um, I think eating it will make you sick." Again, not a researcher, but. She was pretty sure that was coming from the paradox pokemon in the area since it hadn't been reported before and hadn't even been sent out as a warning to Rangers, suggesting it was new.

"Let's just focus on-" She pauses as a low grumble comes from deep in the cave. Robin freezes instinctively. Quietly, she asks, "does that sound like a pokemon you know?"

She didn't know why she felt the urge to eat the colorful goop, but Robin was right it's most likely not safe to eat.. The temptation was strong but she had to resist it for the sake of the mission. "Your right stupid question" Mimi says with a chuckle her cheeks turning red with embarrassment.

Mimi didn't hear the cry that Robin heard. She looks around confused the only noise she heard was an occasional drip of water which was natural given they were in a cave. "I don't hear anything.." she mumbles back slightly worried that they may come across a hostile pokemon.

A tremble could be noticed in her tone, but if Robin truly wanted to investigate it further Mimi wouldn't let her do it alone.

"It's kinda pretty; I understand wanting to try it." She appreciates the new Ranger's curiosity. It's a good quality. She leans in towards the rock wall beside them to listen for the sound again, but she doesn't hear anything. "Maybe it was something silly, like-"

Her guess is interrupted by the presence of a Zubat that swoops down and threatens to consume Robin's hair. She swats it away with a squeak. It quickly flees. Robin straightens, clearing her throat. "Um. Don't put that in your report." It's not often she encounters a Zubat, but she also doesn't laze around in caves. "I think we've seen as much as we're going to. Do you feel ready to submit a report to a captain?"

"I hope so" dealing with something silly would be easier than an actual threat. Mimi keeps an eye out in case something does pop out, but even she was caught off guard by the sudden appearance of a pesky zubat. Oddly the zubat was fixated onto Robin's hair. Watching helplessly as Robin attempts to shoo the pest away; which only took a few seconds before the Zubat fluttered back into the darkness of the tunnels in defeat.

Mimi claps for Robin's victory chuckling at her subtle embarrassment. "I don't know.. that felt pretty report worthy" she teases with a gentle smile. There's a distant rumbling that could be heard in the backround but Mimi didn't think it was worth mentioning, figuring it was nothing of importance.

"Ya I'm ready to leave this place." they didn't really see anything to interesting but it was a good time regardless. "I mean I guess, don't imagine it to be too hard." she shrugs her shoulders and prepares to head out, only pausing when she hears something unsettling coming towards them.

A colony of angry zubat emerge from the shadows surrounding the pair within seconds. The sheer number of the zubat was overwhelming, their high-pitched shrieks bounced off the cavern walls, amplifying their deafening cries.

"Uh.. Robin!!" Mimi places her hands over her ears in attempt to protect her eardrums to the zubats sensitive cries. "W-what should we do!?" She fumbles over her words as the panic begins to set in.

Robin slapped her colleague on the back. "Nah, reports aren't so bad. But we're definitely editing some of the story," she said in response to Mimi's teasing. No way was she sacrificing her reputation to a Zubat!

Speaking of, a swarm of them suddenly appeared. Robin understood Mimi's panic just fine. "Yeah, yep, we're gonna go!" She snapped her fingers and Sinistea produced aromatic mist which would overwhelm the swarm's limited senses. She grabbed Mimi's hand instinctively and turned tail to run. "We don't need to stick around any longer!"

The normal response would be to flee, to run, yet Mimi's panic took over and glued her to the ground. "Woah!" She was initially surprised when Robin tugged her along but she followed Robin's lead as they escaped the colony together.

Somehow they manage to escape and Mimi is completely out of breath from all the running. "I think that's the most excitement I've experienced since becoming a ranger." she chuckles while huffing to catch her breath. She briefly glances around their surroundings to make sure they weren't being followed, surprising they weren't to far from the entrance. "If anything they helped us get out of here faster" Mimi throws in another small joke as she wipes some sweat off her forehead.

If it wasn't for Robin's leadership and quick thinking with her sinistea there was no telling how that situation could have turned out. Clearly Mimi had a lot to learn in order to become a ranger, but it was reassuring to have Robin at her side to support her. Hopefully one day she can become like her too.
